Let’s be real: your "To Be Read" (TBR) pile is probably tall enough to reach the ceiling, and yet, here you are, looking for more. We get it. At Read with Pride, we believe there is no such thing as too many gay books. With Pride Month 2026 just around the corner, it’s time to gamify your reading habits.
Whether you’re a fan of high-stakes gay fantasy romance or you live for the quiet pining of a gay contemporary romance, our Pride Month Reading Bingo is designed to push you out of your comfort zone and into the arms of your next favorite character.
How to Play the Read with Pride Bingo
The rules are simple. We’ve curated 25 categories that represent the beautiful, messy, and diverse world of LGBTQ+ fiction. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get a "Bingo" (five in a row: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) by the end of June. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, go for the "Blackout" and read a book for all 25 squares.

The 25 Categories for Your 2026 Pride Bingo
1. Enemies to Lovers MM Romance
This is the holy grail of tropes. We’re talking about that delicious, high-tension friction where two guys absolutely loathe each other… until they don't. Enemies to lovers mm romance is one of the most searched tropes in 2026 for a reason. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching a rivalry turn into a soul-deep connection. Look for MM romance books where the banter is sharp and the chemistry is electric.
2. Trans Joy in Literature
Too often, trans stories in mainstream media focus on trauma. For this square, find a book that celebrates trans life. Think queer fiction where the protagonist is thriving, falling in love, or going on a magical adventure without their identity being the source of their pain.
3. Found Family
A staple of the LGBTQ+ romance genre. This category is for those stories where the characters create their own support systems. It’s about the friends who become brothers and the community centers that become homes.
4. BIPOC Queer Authors
Intersectionality is vital. Ensure your reading list includes voices from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color within the community. If you need a place to start, our blog category sitemap often features spotlights on diverse authors.
5. Sapphic Fantasy
Give us dragons, swords, and women loving women. Sapphic fantasy has exploded in popularity, and for good reason. Whether it's a royal court intrigue or a quest to save the world, this square is all about magic and identity.
6. Ace and Aro Representation
Asexual and aromantic characters deserve the spotlight! Look for queer fiction that explores the spectrum of attraction. These stories often provide some of the most profound looks at intimacy and friendship.
7. Gay Historical Romance
Step back in time. Whether it’s the Regency era, the Roaring Twenties, or a gritty Victorian setting, gay historical romance proves that we have always been here, loving and living throughout history. If you like a bit of grit with your lace, check out Dick Ferguson’s work.
8. Non-binary Protagonist
Gender is a journey, and literature is catching up. Find a book where the lead character identifies as non-binary or genderqueer.
9. Small Town MM Romance
The "returning to my hometown" trope is a classic. There’s nothing like a MM contemporary story set in a cozy village where everyone knows everyone’s business: especially when a new guy moves to town.
10. Queer Horror or Thriller
Spooky season doesn't have to wait for October. From gay psychological thrillers to supernatural slashers, find a book that keeps you up at night. If you’re a fan of high-tension plots, you might enjoy diving into a gay thriller recommendation from our archives.

11. Graphic Novels and Manga
Visual storytelling is a huge part of our culture. Pick up a queer graphic novel or a volume of bara/yaoi manga to satisfy this square.
12. Neurodivergent Queer Lead
Representation matters across all intersections. Look for books featuring characters with ADHD, Autism, or other neurodivergent traits navigating life and love.
13. Age Gap Romance
A classic MM romance trope. This isn't just about age; it's about different life stages and the wisdom (or chaos) that comes with it.
14. Sports Romance
Whether it’s hockey, soccer, or professional wrestling, gay love stories in the world of sports always bring the heat and the drama of the locker room.

16. Debut Author
Support the newcomers! 2026 is seeing a wave of incredible new talent in the LGBTQ+ Kindle books space. Find an author who just published their first novel.
17. Story in Translation
Expand your horizons by reading a queer book originally written in a language other than English. Queer life is global!
18. Anthology or Short Story Collection
Sometimes you want a bite-sized story. Pick up a collection of MM fiction shorts or a queer poetry anthology.
19. Sci-Fi/Dystopian Queer Fiction
What does the future look like? Usually, it's pretty queer. This square is for the space operas and post-apocalyptic survival stories.
20. Cozy Mystery
Think "Murder She Wrote" but with a gay florist or a lesbian detective. Low stakes, high charm, and a mystery to solve.

21. Older Queer Characters (Elders)
Our history is carried by our elders. Find a book where the main characters are over 50. Their stories of resilience and long-term love are essential reading.
22. YA Coming of Age
Relive the butterflies of a first crush. LGBTQ+ fiction for young adults has come a long way, and these stories are often the most heartfelt.
23. Forced Proximity (The "Only One Bed" Trope)
The ultimate setup for romance. Whether they’re stuck in a snowstorm or sharing a hotel room, forced proximity is the perfect catalyst for MM romance books.
24. Award-Winning Queer Fiction
Check the Lambda Literary or Goodreads Choice awards. Read something that the critics and the fans have both raved about.
25. Community Recommendation
Ask a friend, join a gay book club, or check out our social media community to see what everyone is buzzing about this month.
Why You Should Join the Challenge
Reading shouldn't just be about checking boxes, but challenges like this help us discover authors we might have otherwise skipped. At Read with Pride, we want to make sure the best MM romance and top LGBTQ+ books are accessible to everyone.
By diversifying your reading list, you’re supporting queer authors and MM authors who are working hard to tell our stories. Plus, it’s just fun! There’s nothing like the rush of finally finishing a book that fits that one "impossible" category on your board.
