When a series of art thefts brings him to a Beverly Hills gallery, Leo encounters Roberto Castellano—a handsome Italian art dealer with a mind he cannot read. The silence is intoxicating. The man is irresistible. But Roberto is hiding a secret: his twin brother is “The Ghost,” a psychic criminal who can project illusions and has been hunting Leo for years.

Read with pride. Love without limits.

He can hear every criminal thought in Los Angeles. Except the one man who holds the key to his heart.

Detective Leo Valenti has a gift he never asked for: the ability to read minds. For thirty-four years, the constant noise of Los Angeles—the secrets, lies, and desperate whispers of millions—has been his curse. He can’t turn it off. He can’t escape it. And he can’t get close to anyone without hearing their ugliest thoughts.

Until the night he walks into a crowded art gallery and finds silence.

The man is Roberto Castellano: a devastatingly handsome Italian art dealer with warm brown eyes, an intoxicating accent, and a mind that Leo cannot read. For the first time in his life, Leo experiences peace. But peace comes with a price. Roberto is the cousin of “The Ghost”—a psychic criminal mastermind who can project illusions into the minds of others. And The Ghost has been watching Leo for years.

As Leo hunts a series of impossible art heists across Los Angeles, he finds himself drawn deeper into Roberto’s world—of Caravaggio paintings, midnight walks at Griffith Observatory, and a silence that feels like home. But when Leo discovers that the man he’s falling for may be connected to the very crimes he’s investigating, he faces an impossible choice: trust his heart or trust his gift.

Because The Ghost knows Leo’s secret. He knows Leo is a mind-reader. And he wants to use Leo’s power to build an empire of psychic slaves.

From the glittering galleries of Beverly Hills to the dark underground of psychic experimentation, MINDCAPE is a pulse-pounding gay romance thriller that asks: When you can hear everyone’s thoughts, how do you learn to trust the one person you can’t?

What readers will find inside:

Title: “The best MM romance thriller I’ve read in years”

I picked up MINDCAPE expecting a simple gay romance with a paranormal twist. What I got was a 56-chapter epic that consumed my entire weekend. Leo Valenti is one of the most compelling protagonists I’ve ever encountered—a man cursed with the ability to hear everyone’s thoughts, which sounds cool until you realize it means he can never trust anyone. The way the author portrays his loneliness, his headaches, his desperate need for silence, is so authentic it hurt to read.

And then Roberto enters. Their first meeting at the art gallery gave me chills. The concept of a mind-reader meeting someone whose thoughts he cannot hear—and falling in love with that silence—is brilliant. The slow-burn romance is masterfully paced over the first half of the book. Every stolen glance, every late-night walk, every almost-kiss had me holding my breath.

The thriller elements are just as strong. The Ghost (Vittorio) is a terrifying antagonist with psychic projection abilities, and the action scenes—especially the warehouse confrontation and the bunker raid—are cinematic. I also appreciated how the author handled the resolution: no easy fixes, real losses, and a final sacrifice that made me cry.

The epilogue, with Leo, Roberto, and their adopted son Matteo at Griffith Observatory, was perfect. This isn’t just a romance; it’s a story about found family, about choosing love over fear, and about learning to hear the good in the noise. Highly recommended for fans of gay romance, psychic thrillers, or anyone who wants to read with pride. 10/10.

Title: “Emotional, suspenseful, and beautifully gay”

I’ve read over 200 gay romance novels, and MINDCAPE stands out as something truly special. The premise is unique—a mind-reading detective who uses his gift to solve crimes but can’t have a relationship because he hears his partners’ unfiltered thoughts. That alone is heartbreaking. But the author takes it further by introducing Roberto, a man whose mind is naturally silent. The metaphor is gorgeous: the person you love is the one who quiets your demons.

The writing is crisp and evocative. Los Angeles comes alive—the rain-soaked alleys, the glittering galleries, the quiet of Griffith Observatory at sunset. The psychic elements are handled with internal consistency; no hand-waving, just solid world-building. I especially loved the supporting cast: Captain Chen (the fierce mentor), Elena (the empathic survivor), and even Vittorio, who gets a redemption arc that feels earned.

The romance is steamy but never gratuitous. The first kiss at the observatory is pure magic. The proposal scene made me tear up. And the wedding chapters (43-44) are everything I want in an MM HEA—surrounded by found family, Nonna’s pasta, and a first dance under fairy lights.

My only complaint? I wish the book were longer! But at 120,000+ words, it’s already a substantial read. If you’re looking for a gay romance novel with heart, suspense, and a psychic twist, buy MINDCAPE. Read with pride, indeed.

Title: “A masterpiece of MM speculative romance”

Where do I even begin? MINDCAPE is that rare book that fires on all cylinders: romance, thriller, found family, and a genuinely original supernatural concept. Leo Valenti is a hero for the ages—damaged, powerful, and achingly lonely. Roberto Castellano is the perfect love interest: charming, mysterious, and hiding his own trauma. Their chemistry is off the charts, but the author wisely makes them work for it.

The 56-chapter structure allows for deep exploration of their relationship. We see them go from strangers to allies to lovers to husbands. The trust issues are real—Leo can’t read Roberto’s mind, and that terrifies him. Roberto has been running from his criminal twin for years. Watching them learn to trust each other without psychic shortcuts is beautiful.

The action sequences are top-notch. The battle of minds in Chapter 22 (the warehouse) is intense and inventive. The rescue of the psychics from Alistair Thorne’s facility is harrowing. And the final confrontation with the true villain, August (Prometheus), sets up a larger world that I hope the author continues in a sequel.

The epilogue, “The Silence We Choose,” is one of the most satisfying endings I’ve read in gay fiction. Leo finally finds peace—not by silencing the voices, but by learning to listen differently. With his husband and adopted son, he stands at Griffith Observatory and hears the symphony of LA as music instead of noise.

This book is 18+ for adult themes, violence, and explicit sexual content (handled with care). If you love MM romance, psychic thrillers, and stories about overcoming trauma through love, buy this book. It deserves a place on every “best gay books 2027” list.
